Afaria® 6.6 System Requirements

Sybase Afaria product system requirements help you understand requirements and recommendations for your Afaria system. Recommendations for RAM and disk space are stated independently from any requirements of the operation system or other applications.

Upgrade Afaria Server to version 6.6 from any 6.0 SP1 configuration or any 6.5 FP2 configuration.

Afaria Server

This setup assumes you are installing your Afaria Server without Afaria Administrator in a TCP/IP network.

Recommended Setup for 50-300 Concurrent Client Sessions
Operating System

Any of the following Windows 64-bit operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition R2
  • Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition R2
  • Windows Server 2008 Datacenter Edition R2

Any of the following Windows 32-bit operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition R2
  • Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with Service Pack 2
  • Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with Service Pack 1
  • Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition R2

Disk Space 20 GB, additional space is required for user data

  • Patch Manager supports using Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) for feature implementation.

Afaria Administrator

This setup assumes you are installing your Afaria Server and Afaria Administrator on separate servers within the same TCP/IP network.

OTA Deployment Center

Afaria supports operating one OTA Deployment Center per Afaria installation. The Afaria installation may be a single Afaria Server or Afaria Server farm implementation.

The OTA Deployment Center deploys Afaria client software to supported devices.

  • OTA Deployment Center for Apache Web server
Requirements

Web server according to your hosting environment:

  • Windows — IIS 5.0, 6.0, or 7.5, as appropriate for operating system

Relay Server

The Sybase iAnywhere Relay Server is a secure, load-balanced proxy server that relays communication between mobile devices and one or more Sybase server-based products. It is developed independently from Afaria. Afaria is one example of a supported product

Relay server in Afaria is an optional component that is bundled with the Afaria product on the product installation image.

Additional Requirements

At the time of Afaria 6.6 release, relay server requirements are described as the following[1]:

  • Windows or Linux x86/x64[2]
  • Relay server on IIS may co-exist with other IIS applications.

Afaria iOS features require a Microsoft certificate authority as part of the implementation.

OMA DM server

Afaria supports operating one OMA DM server per Afaria installation, on the same server as the Afaria Server.

  • The Afaria OMA DM Server supports OMA DM standard versions 1.1.2, 1.2, and 1.2.1.
  • The Afaria OMA DM Server supports only the Basic Latin Unicode character set.
